Do you still have the Folk Festival? I just happened to visit Killin in 1995 and found the festival was on. I remember seeing Billy Connoly [with his young family] down at the park and later happened to be sitting at the next table to them for dinner at a restaurant by the river.

Does anyone remember Johnny The Post? He used to deliver mail along the loch side and whilst having coffee with my parents, left his Ford Anglia in the farm yard with the keys in, for me to drive...I was only about 11 years old..what a wonderful man!! This was in the sixties..Zoro

I visited in April of 2007 with my family. We had spent a week doing a small loop of Scotland, it was beautiful! we all had fun and are planning to return. we had even taken a day trip to Killin, though not in hopes of finding lost family, just for the novelty of having a village with the same name. It was great and we plan to do it again. |

It has been many yrs since i last visited Killin as a child with my family, t'was my father who loved the place. Had many a adventures and made some great friends both locally and afar. Sitting in the Salmon Lie drinking cola learning to play pool by day leaving my dad to it while i would play and swim in the Falls of Dochart, by night again in the pub listening to the piano payer and all the adults gettin steaming drunk. It truly is a magical place and hope to visit again 1 day.

My grandparents, Alf & Ina Taylor, lived at Gardners Cottage, Kinnell in the 50's & then at Achmore in the late 60's. Frank & Jan Blyth, my aunt & uncle, also lived at Kinnell with their family before emigrating to Canada around 1970. I have good memories of Killin back then. I last visited about 3 years ago - very nostalgic. Does anyone remember the Blyths.

I originate from Yorkshire but have fond memories of Killin. For several years in the late 60's - early 70's my family used to stay with Mrs. Fraser. I can't remember the name of her house (Mill House??) but it overlooked the Falls of Dochart beyond the mill to the left as you crossed the bridge into the main part of the village. Mrs. Fraser had a son Michael, who worked part time at the garage and two daughters, Fiona and ????? Michael was about my age (54). We were just about the first family to stay in Mrs. Fraser's log cabin. One summer (1974?) I worked at the Falls of Dochart hotel in the High Street whilst at Uni. The owner was (I think) Mrs. Ireland, who originated from Aberdeen. I have lived in Surrey for many years now, and unfortunately have only had the chance to visit Killin half a dozen times or so in the last 30 years, but I always have fond memories of Killin and hope to persaude my wife that a holiday in Killin would be a good idea!

Hi, I lived in Killin from about 1974 to about 1980 ish we lived in the Bank House where my father was the local Manager of Bank of Scotland. I have kept intouch with some of the people I remember but not all - I have very fond memories of the Macrae twins playing their bagpipes on a summer evening and many many more swimming in the falls and the dance at the halls - wow some great memories - I also went to Mclaren high on the bus and that was very interesting on most journeys.

Hello everyone in Killin - stayed in the village in 1999 in the hope of finding any connection with my surname. Unfortunately nothing came to light. No surname of Killin the churchyard. It would be appreciated if anyone has info on my surname. By the way it was a lovely stay. Will come again Many thanks
